I apologize to those of you who are reading this post, it is–much like John Tyler’s presidency–extremely boring.
-The town of Tyler, Texas is named after our tenth president in honor of “his support for Texas’s admission to the United States.”
-Despite the fact that he was president from 1841-1845, John Tyler still has two living grandchildren–amazing!
-Some trivia for your super-awesome president tool belt:
-Robin Hood and his men aren’t the only resident of Sherwood Forest.
-The Library of Congress has substantial primary sources on pretty much every president, including John Tyler.
-There are gifts/collectibles for all kinds of people: spoons, matchbooks, life-sized cardboard cutouts, and baseball cards. And for those with a bit larger budget to work with, there are a number of signed items, including a land grant, a letter, and a short note.
I told you this was boring, why’d you keep reading?
